Summer Body-Mind Retreat: The Lotus on the Water
Each summer
we hold a weekend retreat which builds on our practice of our bodies.
We are developing plans for a retreat in the weekend of August 20-22
which will combine study of the Lotus Sutra with Yoga sessions
lead by Lou Bennet.

* Beginner's Mind, a practice composed of two 20 minute rounds
of sitting meditation, divided by 10 minutes of walking practice and concluded
with a beginner-level discussion. The 2nd Week will focus on a discussion
of Practice; the 4th Week will focus on Teaching topics. These are ideal
for those new to practice and those who want to develop their understanding
of Buddhist teaching.

Formal Tendai
services are held three mornings a week at 5.00 am (or later by arrangement).
Those who might like to participate are welcome to stay over the night
before.
Thursday evening is an open practice time. Anyone who wishes to practice
is welcome. There is no formal opening/closing or talk. If available,
Innen will provide some instruction and answer questions.
Services
: Maha Sangha Saturdays
Maha Sangha (Whole Community) Saturdays are a monthly gathering of all our members and friends. It is usually held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. A theme is set for the program and this is explored in a dharma talk. The session combines formal practice and stimulating conversation over a vegetarian breakfast. Practice includes chanting, walking, sitting and a food donation. Observer guests are welcome by arrangement with Innen doshu.
Newcomers can attend the event by arrangement with Innen.All are welcome to breakfast.
NOTE: There are no Mahasangha Saturdays during July/August.

This Mahasangha will include a talk by Innen on the tradition of mikkyo (secret/esoteric) practices in Mahayana Buddhism.

* Dokusan is a brief (5-15 minutes) private practice discussion with Innen. Only 1-3 people will have this interview each month.
** Brunch is a vegetarian buffet, open to all who attend the service and their invited guests. We also welcome those who are not ready to practice but want a social opportunity with a committed community. Polite dogs are welcome.
